THANKS BE TO GOD by Carol B. Meenen

Thanks be to God for our being here
Because we have no time we fear
No time for worry or to shed a tear
We must work together for a cure right here

A cure we ask and for what
That dreaded disease we are fighting
It is a horrible thing we know and
Not at all fun or very exciting

It is Parkinson Disease we muse
But we will not let it bring us down
We will learn to cope and find its best use
Before it is the reason we develop a frown

Our faces will become solemnly frozen
But we will come back and give thanks
And ask for our meds to "kick in" again
It happens so fast your head will spin

Thanks be to God for our good fortune
Because we had the opportunity to meet
All those wonderfully supportive friends
Who are the reason we will not accept defeat!
