NPF National Parkinson Foundation - June 16, 2010

National Parkinson Foundation

Dear Friend of NPF,

With the official start of summer only a week away, we would like to help get you motivated to dedicate the summer months to living well with Parkinson’s disease. Whether you attend an exercise class, participate in a walkathon, or attend an educational conference, Parkinson.org has all the resources you need to take charge of your health this summer! If it’s too hot to go outside, check out our online video library and listen to the top neurologists answer your most frequently asked questions about PD.

Connect with the Parkinson’s community at one of our upcoming NPF-sponsored events:

1) The “Out of the Park for Parkinson’s” campaign is in full swing this summer. Support Gordon Beckham of the Chicago White Sox in his partnership with the National Parkinson Foundation to hit Parkinson’s out of the park! During the month of June, every donation to the campaign will be entered into a drawing to win 4 premium tickets to a Chicago White Sox game, a parking pass and an autographed photo from Gordon. Visit www.outofthepark.org to pledge your support today and you may be going to a game in July!

2) Register for the October 2010 Young Onset Parkinson Conference (Southeastern) in Atlanta, Georgia. This weekend-long event includes sessions on stem cells and gene therapies, neuropsychological aspects of the disease, sex and intimacy, as well as practical tips for daily living. This conference is brought to you by the National Parkinson Foundation, the American Parkinson Disease Association and the Northwest Georgia Parkinson Disease Association. For more information, visit www.parkinson.org/yopc

3) Escape to the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, MA this November to attend a 4-day wellness retreat: “Navigating a New World: Wellness Retreat for Recently Diagnosed Parkinson’s Patients & their Care Partners.” The program includes daily yoga sessions and workshops in a small group setting of 60 people. Read more about this holistic health retreat now at www.parkinson.org/retreat.

4) Check out the Parkinson.org event calendar to find activities in your area. You can also search local resources to find a support group in your town.

Thank you,

Joyce A. Oberdorf
President and CEO
